Chemistry and Biochemistry News

At the SGA Awards Banquet, the Zombies Event was chosen as the Best Social Event. This event was co-sponsored by several clubs on campus. Two biochemistry majors, Michele Collingsworth (left) and Nicole Heil (right) were very active in organizing, planning and making the event a success, so were able to be part of those who accepted the award. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Chemistry Junior, Bryana Parlock, on her group, Catholic Campus Ministry, being chosen as the New Program of the Year. As Vice President, Bryana has been very active in expanding this group on campus. There is now a weekly service on campus and students are able to participate in prayer services and events.

Congratulations to Biochemistry Junior, Nicole Heil, on being awarded the “Outstanding President” of the year! Nicole is the president of the Anime Club this year and has shown remarkable leadership skills in all that she’s done in her role as president.

Congratulations to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Club for winning not one, but two, awards this year! The club won Outstanding Club of 2015. This award “recognizes an organization that has contributed to the Stevenson Community through excellence in meeting the four foundations of civic engagement, education, personal development, and collaborative leadership.” The club was also awarded the Best Educational Program for the Chemistry Magic Show. This award “salutes a program connected with the mission of the organization to educate the Stevenson University community on a particular topic.” What a great end to such a fun and successful year!

The picture above was taken at the end of year lunch. Club officers, Shelby Litz and Michele Collingsworth, are holding the plaques for the awards.

On the last day of classes, ACS Club members celebrated the club’s outstanding year with a taco bar. Spending time with friends was a great break before starting to study for finals!
