Campus Security & Parking
Documents and Policies
Active, engaged, and accessible, Campus Security is just a phone call away.
Stevenson's campus security staff is committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Stevenson Campus Security Department is comprised of 47 dedicated professionals, including two supervisors, from various public service backgrounds including the Maryland State Police, Baltimore County Police, Baltimore County Fire and EMT services, and other security disciplines. Security Officers maintain an active presence on campus and are on duty at Owings Mills and Owings Mills North 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even when the campus is closed, it is protected around the clock by security professionals. The Greenspring Campus is served by Security Officers during all hours that the campus is open.
If you wish to contact security, dial "0" on any campus phone. This will put you in contact with the receptionist, who can call security. Emergency phones are easily accessible from all campus buildings and the parking lots.
Campus Lockdown and Safety Procedures
Stevenson’s Campus Security Office has produced the following informational and instructional video for students, faculty, and staff. The video focuses on the “Avoid. Deny. Defend.” protocols recommended by American law enforcement agencies in the event of an active shooter situation. Although we all hope that we never encounter such situations, this information in this video can help you protect yourself and others in the event of an active shooter situation. For further information, visit www.avoiddenydefend.org.
Register Today for SUAlert and OPT-IN
It is recommended that all students, faculty, and staff register for the SUAlert service.
SUAlert is the fastest and most reliable source of information for campus closures and developing emergency situations.
Parents and relatives of students may also register for SUAlert.
Emergency Phone Locations on Campus
For your safety, the University has installed emergency phones on both the Greenspring and Owings Mills campuses.
At Greenspring, emergency phones are located in the parking lot, the Dawson Center, Knott Hall, the Manuszak Center, and in all elevators.
At Owings Mills, emergency phones are located in the parking lot and the quad-side entrances to the residence halls.
