Clinical Training Program

The Stevenson University Wellness Center offers a 9-month, practicum/externship training program for up to 18 hours per week for students who are enrolled in an accredited PhD/PsyD program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. Masters’ level trainees with previous supervised psychotherapy training will be considered.

About the Wellness Center:
The mission of the Wellness Center is to support the academic goals of the University by assisting students with medical and psychological challenges. Psychological services are both remedial (crisis intervention, assessment and referral, and psychotherapy) and preventive (workshops and outreach programming). The Wellness Center provides a warm, caring, professional environment for both patients and staff.

Types of Clients Seen:
The client population seen at the Wellness Center reflects the diversity of the student body in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and social class. Clients present with a variety of psychological concerns commonly having to do with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and academic stress. Our clients are generally traditionally aged, undergraduate students.

The application process for the 2023-2024 training year will be open between January and March of 2023. Once materials are reviewed, selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview with the Wellness Center staff.
