On November 4, 2016 SU career services held a special trunk show event at the Owings Mills Campus. This “Dress for Success” event was open to all and was a collaboration with fashion design, fashion merchandising and career services. The event featured appropriate clothing styles for various events that today’s professional will encounter. The fashion design internship class created themes that included: Casual Friday, High-Profile events, Business Casual In The Workplace, After Work-Evening Events, Interviews At A Business/Creative Firm, Networking Lunches and demonstrated how to accessorize for these events. Career services received donated clothing that was categorized for men and women following these themes. Students could come to the event and choose three items for their wardrobe for free. Students also had the option of bringing their own clothes in and having a stylist help them with outfitting options.

I spoke with Rana Kurban, a fashion design senior at Stevenson, who was in the fashion design internship class. She enjoyed styling outfits and using a hands-on approach to merchandising. Rana attended the event to network and meet people in the industry. She brought her resume and was hoping to make some great connections. She looks forward to a rewarding career in the fashion industry and will be dressed for success!
