Alums Morgan McCluskey-Wirtz (Biochem ’18) and Jess Eisenberg (Biology ’17) visited campus last week while on their spring break from Virginia Commonwealth University. Morgan is a first year pharmacy student and Jess is a second year dental student, both at the medical campus. They visited with the chem faculty and then later participated in a panel discussion on transitioning from undergraduate into health profession graduate programs. Morgan and Jess are roommates in Richmond, and live near to the campus.

Andrew is pictured at right with fellow mustang alums
We were happy to see alum Andrew McGregor on accepted students day in March. He came to share his experiences with prospective students and families. He also shared with us that he had just been published! The article, which appears on page one of the inaugural issue of Forensic Science International: Synergy is titled “Immunoassay detection of fly artifacts produced by several species of necrophagous flies following feeding on human blood”. This is the second publication for Andrew from the laboratory of David Rivers at Loyola. Great work Andrew and congratulations!

Senior Chemistry major Justin Killough has a job already waiting for him even though he’s still in his last semester at Stevenson. He will begin working at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories after graduation this May, and will be joining several other Stevenson alumni working at the Lancaster, PA site. He credits his Stevenson chemistry degree for preparing him for the workforce. Also key to his competitiveness, Justin completed an internship at BASF in Delaware last summer, working on organic pigment oxidation optimization methods. Justin is pictured above, examining a flask of 2-9 dichlorodiquinacridone, a red pigment first synthesized by BASF in the 1990s
