Biochemistry Senior Bailey Krahl has been completing her internship with Stevenson’s Laboratory Services. She says that the job always keeps her busy and constantly on the move. She enjoys the interactions and relationships she has with different people around campus while fullfilling her duties. Bailey had this to say about her internship experience: ” I would definitely stick with this side of the lab. I like doing the background working and being in multiple labs instead of staying in the same place. I like having the ability to still work hands on with chemicals but need to know the dangers of them and how to handle. This internship requires good organizations skills which I have and definitely want to apply to a job I have in the future. I love having the ability to handle many tasks and be on top of organizing them so all get done on time. ”

Biochemistry Junior Skylar Kaspar has been working in the lab of Dr. Carey Danna for his capstone project. He and his labmates are utilizing drosophilia melanogaster, or the common fruit fly, for this research. Skylar has flourished in the laboratory environemnt, and feels that “real learning” has happened as a result of this experience. He hopes that his research experiences will translate to his later career in medicine.
