Congratulations to Ms. Shradha Maheshwari on winning the 2016 Rose Dawson Teaching Award for adjunct faculty! Ms. M, as she is known by her students, was nominated by her College Algebra students for her excellent teaching, her high expectations of students, and her dedication to working with students to make them successful.

The Math and Physics Department was excited to host the First Annual Spring Spectacular! The well-attended event shared the department’s excitement about math, physics and chemistry. Demonstrations, games, liquid nitrogen ice cream making, a vacuum ping-pong ball shooter, a thermite demonstration, a telescope with a solar lens, and other various puzzles and games were scheduled throughout the afternoon. What an amazing time was had by all!

Dr. Neal Miller (left) and applied math sophomore Gerald Roman (center) represented the department in welcoming students accepted to SU’s class of 2020 to Accepted Students’ Day. Looking forward to greeting our applied math freshmen this fall!

We’re excited to share our new jackets! Designed by Applied Math sophomore, Gerald Roman (top picture), the jackets are perfect for the spring and very popular with students and faculty!
