A lot of people stress about what to wear to an interview, whether it’s for an actual job, or an internship. The rule of thumb has always been to dress for the job you want. However, if you were applying to an athletic wear brand like Under Armour, you wouldn’t necessarily want to show up in leggings and a t-shirt. You would want to look professional, because first impressions do stick.

I’ve always found that it’s better to be slightly over dressed than to be underdressed for anything in life, especially an interview. For a retail store internship, you’d want to go for something business casual, such as a nice pair of pants, a nice top, and a pair of heels or flats. For an internship in the corporate office, you’d want to wear something more professional such as a pair of dress pants and a blazer, or a knee length dress or skirt. Also, don’t be afraid to add a pop of color. There’s no need to wear all black, so add some color in your top, a statement necklace, or your shoes – just keep it professional.
