We hope that everyone had wonderful holidays and an enjoyable break! We are thrilled to share some of our upcoming exciting events that the students, faculty, and staff will be participating in this spring.

On Thursday, February 14th, ten Stevenson University Fashion Design students will be showcasing their designs in New York during the 2019 New York Fashion Week. This exciting fashion show will be held at the Hotel Pennsylvania, 401 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001! During the show, students will gain beneficial experience by working backstage with professional designers, models, make-up artists, and hair stylists. Additionally, they will also be included in the media hour where they will have the opportunity to meet members of the press and fashion buyers.

From February 25th to February 27th, Dr. Holly Lentz-Schiller will be taking 10 fashion merchandising students to New York. There they will be attending the Coterie Trade Show, a large fashion and apparel industry tradeshow, which is similar to the MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas! Students will have the chance to explore where buyers go to purchase merchandise and how the sales process works. There are also seminars that students can attend should they choose, and the opportunity to make valuable contacts in the industry. They are also going to try to squeeze in a visit to the Museum at FIT!

Don’t forget about the SU Spring Break! Please note that the college will be CLOSED from Monday, March 18th to Sunday, March 24th. Also, college will be closed for the Easter holiday – Friday, April 19th to Sunday, April 21st.

Stevenson’s History of Fashion course is going to London and Paris for the week of spring break 2019! The goal of the trip is to have students experience an international perspective of the fashion world; 14 students will be attending. They will first start out in London and see all the great sights – Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey. The group will visit WGSN, the world’s leader in trend forecasting, as well as have a lecture at the London College of Fashion and visit the world renowned Victoria and Albert Museum. Then they are off to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, Musee D’Orsay and a day trip to Versailles. The class will visit key French retailers as well as tour an international textile showroom. The group includes fashion design and merchandising students as well as a theatre and biochemistry major accompanied by two faculty members. We can’t wait! Bon voyage!

On Saturday, May 4th, we invite you to joins us as students showcase their designs in a spectacular runway show. The time and place of this exciting event will be announced soon! These collections will grace the runway at the 8th Annual Student Fashion Show, which will include all Senior Collections, as well as the garments that strutted down the runway during New York Fashion Week!
