Junior and senior students from Stevenson University’s Fashion Design program will showcase their exhibition, “We Are One In Fashion,” at New York City’s prestigious Fashion Week in February. The exhibition, a collection of original evening garments inspired by the traditional fashions from countries all across the globe, will be featured on the runway February 19, 2015 in the grand ballroom of the historic Hotel Pennsylvania, located in the heart of the garment industry, 401 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001.
In collaboration with PLITZS Fashion Marketing, the students will work with professional models, make-up artists, and stylists. They will also be included in the media hour in which they will have the opportunity to meet the press and the fashion buyers.
“The partnership between Stevenson University and PLITZS Fashion Marketing is going to highlight the talents of our students, and provide them with the opportunity to connect with industry leaders,” said Sally DiMarco, Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Fashion Design.
“It is going to be wonderful to have my design grace the runway at Fashion Week in New York,” said junior Fashion Design major Abigail Austin, whose piece is inspired by ethnic costumes from India. “To work with professionals in the industry is a valuable experience, and I’m excited to share in it with my peers.”
Prior to heading to New York, “We Are One In Fashion” will debut with a public reception Thursday, December 4, 6-8 p.m., at the St. Paul Companies Pavilion, located on Stevenson’s Greenspring campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153. The exhibition, which features traditional styles from countries such as Spain, Brazil, Egypt, and Greece, will remain on display at Stevenson through January 15.
