Please join us in congratulating fashion design students, Nakia Boomer, Katie Ellsworth, and Jocelyn Williams as they assume their new positions in the Fashion Design program as Student Interns with the responsibility of producing the program’s Annual Fashion Show.

The three Fashion Show Producers bring to their roles a wealth of experience culled from working in the industry and also by shadowing our former student Fashion Show Producers this past academic year.

Nakia Boomer interned and is currently working in Apparel Product Development at the 180’s Company.

Katie Ellsworth interned with and continues to work at J. Crew as a Stylist.

Jocelyn Williams interned at Under Amour in the Color Development area. Their professional backgrounds are impressive!

In their new roles, the Fashion Show Producers will manage all of the aspects of the show from the planning, merchandise selection, staging and music, budgeting, show preparation, execution, and evaluation.

Behind the scenes they will work with the student body to train amateur models, scheduling rehearsals including the dress rehearsal, setting-up and running the dressing room areas, and conduct pre and post show meetings.

In addition, they will be collaborating with the students in the Fashion Merchandising program, Film and Video department, and the Dynamic PR Club. The producers will report to Professor Leslie Simpson who serves as the Advisor for the fashion show.

The show is the highlight of the academic year for the program, it boasts an audience of over 250 guests, and it serves to showcase the creative work of the students to the community and the industry.

Congratulations Nakia, Katie, and Jocelyn!!
