On February 18, an Interview Boot Camp was conducted during seminar for all interns to gain practice and experience in the job interviewing process. 32 interns were interviewed by 16 guest interviewers consisting of experienced teachers and administrators, including several alumni.
After a welcome, introduction, and overview by Dr. Beth Kobett, Dean of the School of Education, each candidate participated in four rounds, rotating between two mock interviews and two structured small group sessions. Questions posed related to instruction and planning, classroom community, equity and reflection, and professional practice. At the conclusion of each interview, candidates were provided two strengths (one related to professional presence/communication and one related to instructional thinking or classroom practice) and one specific, actionable refinement that would elevate their performance in future interviews. Questions and feedback were growth-oriented and focused on clarity and evidence.
The goal of the event was to create a professional, supportive, and strengths-based experience to help candidates refine how they articulate the strong work they are doing in the classroom.
