A big congratulations go out to Chemistry (BS’16) alumni Katie Abbott and Alec Romanowski on completing the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Buffalo. Both graduated with Magna Cum Laude laurels. While they weren’t able to celebrate with their class in the traditional way, they were able to celebrate together! Future plans for Katie: she has accepted her dream job as a pharmacist for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield in Rochester, NY, while Alec is beginning a residency at Guthrie-Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Congratulations to Dr. Abbot and Dr. Romanowski!

Senior Chemistry major, Samantha Ramos has been working at Real Diagnostics in Reistertown for a few weeks now. Before the facility started testing for Covid-19, they were primarily a testing facility for UTI/STIs and toxicology. They switched over to Covid-19 testing because they had the necessary equipment and because of the tremendous need. Sam works with three teams that accession incoming samples, aliquot samples to prepare them for testing and conduct PCR(polymerase chain reaction) testing for the virus. Stay safe, Sam!

Congratulations to Biochemistry alumnae (BS’16) on her decision to attend UMB School of Pharmacy to obtain her PharmD. Danielle had her pick, as she was accepted to all five universities to which she applied! Since graduation, Danielle has been completing additional pre-requisites for her application while working as a shift manager at MOD pizza and as a bank teller at NASA FCU. She will be hitting the books again soon, as classes start later this this summer! Congrats Danielle!
