CBS/WJZ-TV news reporter and anchor Jessica Kartalija will be joining the BizComm faculty in the fall, teaching one secion of Introduction to Public Speaking.

Kartalija joined the Eyewitness News team in 2006, and now she co-anchors the 5 p.m. newscast daily, and the noon newscast on Mondays and Tuesdays.

She came to Baltimore from Albuquerque, N.M., anchoring and reporting for the News at Nine.

Kartalija graduated from Pennsylvania State University where she majored in broadcast journalism and minored in Spanish. While in college, she completed a semester abroad, living in Sevilla, Spain, and became fluent in the language.

Currently, she is involved with the House of Ruth Maryland, where she is a board member. She was recently named a Baltimore Rising Star from the Living Classrooms Foundation, and is also a member of the American News Women’s Club. She also had a role in the film “Transformers.”
