Senior BizComm Emma Ragon (in the photo on the right, along with student Sarah Healy) traveled to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on Feb. 18 to present at the 2016 IMPACT Conference. The focus of the conference was civic and community engagement, presented through workshops and speaker sessions. According to the IMPACT website, "The mission of IMPACT is to connect, educate, and mobilize college students, nonprofit professionals, and educators to strengthen their communities through service, action, and advocacy."
Dr. Christine Moran, dean of student success at Stevenson, and Morgan Somerville, director of student engagement, accompanied the four Stevenson students who were selected to attend the conference.
Emma writes, "I was able to attend workshops that focused on marketing, communications, event planning, and other interests that relate to business communication, which was really cool. I also gave a presentation on the importance of reflection and taught participants various activities that could be used for reflection. It was a great experience. I never thought that I would be exposed to these sort of opportunities, but I am so grateful."
Congratulations, Emma, for representing Stevenson University with such thoughtful and insightful enthusiasm!
