Applied Mathematics News

The Mathematics and Physics Department wished warm congratulations to our six applied math graduates at the May Commencement. Students and faculty gathered right before the ceremony for a departmental graduation picture. Faculty wished students well, in the words of Gabrielle Giffords, House of Representatives, Arizona:

“Be bold, be courageous, be your best.”

Best wishes- we’ll miss you!

Seniors and faculty gathered for the annual School of the Sciences Senior Sendoff. Everyone relaxed and enjoyed a bar-b-q, lawn games, raffles and time to talk with each other.

Congratulations to senior Courtney Hohn on receiving the Math Department’s Service Award at the SOS Awards Ceremony! Courtney was recognized for her dedication to participating in department events and for tutoring many students.

Applied Math senior, Rebecca Gruver, was recognized at the School of the Sciences Award Ceremony with the Academic Excellence Award in the Department of Math and Physics for the 2019 senior class. Congratulations Becca!

Applied math junior, Tyler Slusarczyk, shot a career-low score of 70 (-2) in the final round of the MAC Commonwealth Golf Championship to help the Mustangs win their fifth championship (fourth in a row)!
