Congratulations to math faculty member, Dr. Sarah Blanset, on her promotion to Associate Professor of Mathematics. Dr. Blanset has excelled in all three areas of faculty responsibilities, teaching, scholarship and service. Best wishes!

Warmest wishes to Gerald Roman-Gonzalez on his graduation with a BS in Applied Math! Gerald has been a favorite in the department for his pleasant manner, for his participation in research with Dr. Wilson, for his mentoring of younger students and for all his help in building our department!

We wish you all the best in all that you do! In the words of Henry David Thoreau: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”

Congratulations to Math Juniors, Courtney Hohn (left) and Rebecca Gruver, on receiving Level 3 Master Tutor CRLA Certification as Tutors through our Academic Link! They were honored at an Awards Ceremony and luncheon. At the ceremony, one of the speakers was Dr. Ellen Roskes, Math Department Chair. She shared with the audience the various tutoring she did while she was in college and warmly thanked all the tutors for the impact they are having on the success of SU students!

Once again, everyone had a lot of fun all semester with our Math Problem of the Week competition. Students won points for the fast and correct submission of solutions to fun and challenging problems. Congratulations to our winners, all Applied Math sophomores: 1st Place- Billy Heidel (center), 2nd place: Alayna Roesener (right), and 3rd place: Darian Hileman All three were given gift cards and prizes for their accomplishment. A new competition will start again in the fall!

Congratulations to Applied Math junior, James Wiercinski, on being named the 2018 MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year! James a left-hander, made 12 appearances including 10 starts. He posted a team-best 3.31 ERA to go with his 5-4 record.
