The Department of Film & Moving Image (FMI) kicked off the 2023-2024 Academic Year with a record-breaking incoming class. It seems that more and more students are choosing us to help prepare for a future career in any of the many avenues opened up by our major.

Beyond career preparation, we offer opportunities for our students to explore their artistic side and develop skills that will serve them well no matter where they eventually end up. One of those courses is FMI-306, “Experimental Cinema.” Did you know that many of the techniques used in commercials and music videos owe a deep aesthetic debt to the experimental films of yesterday and today?

Come check out the exhibit of work from last year’s FMI-306 class in the 2nd-floor gallery of the Manning Academic Center (MAC) on our Owings Mills North campus. It runs until November 16, 2023. The photos, above, come from the September 28, 2023, reception hosted by Lori Rubeling (Faculty Director, Exhibitions) and Christopher Ernst (FMI-306 Professor).
