Akeweh Fondong
Biology

Biology major Akeweh Fondong has unquestionably made the most of his Stevenson education—from the classroom to the surgical rooms of Johns Hopkins Hospitals and the tropical forests of Ecuador.

During Winterim semester, Akeweh was one of 23 Stevenson students and four faculty members who traveled to Ecuador. There, he studied herbal medicines and remedies, visiting the Ecuadorian Amazon as part of his travel course experience. His photo, “Enjoying Nature and the Beautiful Weather” (shown on the left), taken on the Tiputini River, won the university’s Travel and Culture photo and video contest.

In addition to his exceptional study abroad opportunity, Akeweh also held an internship at Johns Hopkins in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Endoscopic and Robotic Thyroid Parathyroid Surgery.
