Charter
Stevenson University was founded in 1947 as Villa Julie College and incorporated through the State Tax Commission of Maryland as a Maryland non-stock corporation in 1958. Its corporate charter was amended and restated with the Charter Division of the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation in 1998.
In 2008, Stevenson’s corporate charter was amended to change its name to “Stevenson University, Inc.”
Tax Status
On June 14, 1996, the Internal Revenue Service issued a determination that Stevenson University is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Corporate Bylaws
The Board of Trustees of Stevenson University, Inc, approved its Amended and Restated Bylaws on March 7, 2024.

Each year the Board of Trustees publishes its list of members, along with officer appointments and committee assignments.
Faculty Council
The Faculty Council approved its Constitution and Bylaws, as amended, in July, 2024.
