Special guest Carter Brigham from Corcl boats visited GDES 270- Introduction to Corporate Design classes for a mailer project. During her visit Carter gave students feedback on their ideas and students made several variations that they presented to her at the end of the class, which helped the students to move along with their project.
“Our company gives campers access to joy, self-confidence, and independence”.
The company started in 2015 after a trip to Vietnam, where Carter and husband and co-founder, Harry Brigham, had the chance to paddle around bamboo basket boats. They were so enthusiastic about a new way of moving on the water that they found a maker to craft a boat than ship it to the Port of Baltimore.
The CORCL won an Honourable Mention in the international Red Dot Design competition and the GOOD DESIGN award in 2018 and has been awarded multiple patents. Two seasons ago, CORCL Boats came out with the WGWAG, a redesign of a product from the ’80s. Stevenson Graphic Design students worked on a project for Corcl before; they developed Corcl Girl Scout patches and Corcl mat design a few years ago.
