The Fall 2023 Artist-in-Residence for the FMI Department is Emmy Award-winning Production Sound Mixer Lorenzo Millan, who will be on campus Monday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 24. Originally from Baltimore, Millan has worked in the industry for over 30 years on productions such as Netflix’s House of Cards, HBO’s We Own This City and The Wire, NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street, and Paramount+’s Special Ops: Lioness. Millan got his start in high school making Super-8mm movies which progressed into studying at NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of Arts. After graduation, he returned to Baltimore and started his career as a boom operator, joining IATSE local 487 in 1994. Millan has since established himself as the premier Sound Mixer in the Baltimore area with his vast knowledge and expertise in the craft of sound recording for movies and television.

On Tuesday, October 24, Millan will give a presentation on his work in the School of Design Soundstage (SD101), at 7pm. There will be reception beforehand, with refreshments, in the lobby, starting at 6pm.
