This year’s Stevenson University Film & Moving Image 72-Hour Film Festival ran Nov. 10-13. We screen the completed films on Friday, November 17, at 7pm in our Soundstage.

Contestants had to each pick a different genre from a hat, and then work with the following three requirements: 1) namedrop an Oscars Best Picture Winner into the dialogue; 2) incorporate the Wilhelm Scream sound effect; 3) either a bird’s-eye view or a low-angle shot (worm’s-eye view).

The festival is sponsored this year by Blackmagic Design, which has donated the grand prize. That reward, as well as Amazon gift cards, will be given to the first-place winners. There will also be prizes for second and third place, as well an audience award.

The 2023 festival was judged by Stevenson University President Eliot Hirshman, FMI Alumna Patricia Lai (Class of 2018), and Baltimore-based filmmaker Sumaiya Ananna. Many thanks to them for the time they gave to watch and evaluate all 9 submissions.
