For our twenty-fourth episode (and sixth and final of the 2023-2024 academic year), we welcome sophomore FMI students Zach Jones and Cassara Wheeler to discuss the films Infested and Humane. Both come out on April 26, the former on Shudder and the latter in theaters, from IFC Films. Infested (“Vermines” in the original French), co-written and directed by Sébastien Vanicek, follows the residents of a dilapidated apartment building in the Paris suburbs as they confront an invasion of deadly spiders. Humane, directed by Caitlin Cronenberg (daughter of David and sister of Brandon), and written by Michael Sparaga, is a thriller (with distinct shades of horror) that tells the tale of what happens when humanity is forced to cull the herd in the light of drastic climate change. It’s a bloody show, for sure! As always, FMI Department Chair Chris Reed hosts.
