Welcome to Spring 2015!!

Welcome back to the Fashion Design department!! We hope that everyone had wonderful holidays and an enjoyable break! We are thrilled to share that there are many exciting events that the students, faculty, and staff will be participating in this spring.

Stevenson University Fashion Design students, along with two alumni, will be showcasing their designs at Plitz Fashion Marketing during New York Fashion Week on Thursday, February 19^th. The event will be held at the historic Hotel Pennsylvania, which is located in the heart of the garment district. Tickets for this event will be sold at the door for $20 per person. The student’s designs will share the runway with notable designers from the Ukraine and Barbados. During the show, students will gain beneficial experience by working backstage with professional designers, models, make-up artists, and hair stylists. Additionally, they will also be included in the media hour where they will have the opportunity to meet the press and fashion buyers.

While the students, faculty, and staff are in New York, I will be in attendance at the Whitaker Gallery at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. There, the children’s wear from the “We Are One In Fashion” collection will be showcased in a fashion-photography exhibit depicting ideas of Home through fabric, texture, color, style, and environment. The Center for the Humanities at Hood College is sponsoring the event as part of the Home series. The exhibit will run from February 19^th to March 7th, 2015; the gallery hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. An opening reception will take place Thursday, February 19^th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., featuring a gallery talk at 6:00 p.m. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public and include free parking in the Chapel Lot.

On Saturday, May 9^th, the students will showcase their designs in a spectacular runway show at Stevenson University’s Inscape Theater at 7:00pm. The collection will grace the runway at the Annual Student Fashion Show, which is one of the highlights of the program’s academic year, and will include the Senior Collections, the pieces from the “We Are One In Fashion” collection, as well as the garments that strutted down the runway during New York Fashion Week.
