Junior and senior students fromStevenson University’s Fashion Designprogram will showcase their exhibition, “We Are One In Fashion,” at New York City’s prestigious Fashion Week in February. The exhibition, a collection of original evening garments inspired by the traditional fashions from countries all across the globe, will be featured on the runway February 19, 2015 in the grand ballroom of the historic Hotel Pennsylvania, located in the heart of the garment industry, 401 7thAvenue, New York, NY 10001.

In collaboration with PLITZS Fashion Marketing, the students will work with professional models, make-up artists, and stylists. They will also be included in the media hour in which they will have the opportunity to meet the press and the fashion buyers.

“The partnership between Stevenson University and PLITZS Fashion Marketing is going to highlight the talents of our students, and provide them with the opportunity to connect with industry leaders,” saidSally DiMarco, Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Fashion Design.

“It is going to be wonderful to have my design grace the runway at Fashion Week in New York,” said junior Fashion Design majorAbigail Austin, whose piece is inspired by ethnic costumes from India. “To work with professionals in the industry is a valuable experience, and I’m excited to share in it with my peers.”

Prior to heading to New York, “We Are One In Fashion” will debut with a public reception Thursday, December 4, 6-8 p.m., at the St. Paul Companies Pavilion, located on Stevenson’s Greenspring campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153. The exhibition, which features traditional styles from countries such as Spain, Brazil, Egypt, and Greece, will remain on display at Stevenson through January 15.

Stevenson University, known for its distinctive career focus, is the third-largest independent undergraduate university in Maryland with more than 4,400 students pursuing bachelors, masters, and adult bachelor’s programs at locations in Stevenson and Owings Mills. Stevenson is the only University in the State of Maryland to offer a bachelor’s degree in fashion design.
