The School of Education is excited to offer its Second Annual Summer Book Club.

After receiving feedback from students about the need for more classroom management discussions, this summer’s selection is Better Than Carrots or Sticks: Restorative Practices for Positive Classroom Management by Dominique Smith, Douglas Fisher, and Nancy Frey.

Book Club sponsor, Dr. Beth Kobett, has created a Blackboard web site to coordinate participation during the summer months. In addition, two virtual Book Club sessions will be conducted on Google Hangout. In the fall, participants will convene for a Back to School discussion in person.

Over forty students and faculty had signed up to participate. Two students, Tabby Lansinger and Aliyah Morgan, were selected from a drawing to win a free copy of the book. Updates to the Book Club activities will be posted later in the summer. Happy summer reading!
