Three students, Heather Bowie (ENV major), Ana Castillo (BIO major), and Stephen Knerler (ENV major), attended the Mid Atlantic Tick Summit IX held at the Patuxent Research Refuge. The students have worked as part of Dr. Kim Tucker’s tick research team over the last year and have participated in field and laboratory research activities. Ana presented the poster entitled, Pathogen Monitoring in Maryland Ticks, which was co-authored by all of the students who have worked on this project, as well as the senior researchers, Dr. Kim Tucker, Dr. Matt Tucker (US Department of Agriculture), and Dr. Mark Soloski (Johns Hopkins University). The research is funded by the Lyme Disease Foundation of Maryland.
