Congratulations to SU alumna Empryss Tolliver (BSc Biology ’17) on her acceptance to Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine! Empryss is currently finishing her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Bluefield College / Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and will graduate in May 2020. While at SU, Empryss was an active member of the student community serving as a Resident Assistant and Student Ambassador. Academically, she was actively involved in a year-long research with Dr. Obae on the genetics of endangered species which led to her submitting novel DNA barcode sequences of the species to NCBI database. Empryss attributes her successful application to Podiatry school to the strong academic foundation and training at SU. The faculty of the department of biological sciences are proud of her achievements and wish her the best as she embarks on her training in Podiatry Medicine in Fall 2020.
