Women’s Ice hockey posted an impressive double overtime victory against Edicott (Beverly, MA) this past weekend. The first ever Colonial Hockey Conference Championship was nothing short of exciting with each team battling for over 90 minutes on the ice. In the end, the Mustangs edged out a 2-1 victory.
Senior Applied Math major Sarah Modzelewski was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player recording 44 saves in the championship and 13 of those in overtime. Modzelewski bested Edicott’s Swedish goalie, Vendela Jonsson, who also tallied 44 saves in the game and earned the Second Star award. Sarah has played in 59 games with the ice hockey team in her four years at SU and has totaled over 3000 minutes on the ice. This past season she posted her best save percentage and record with 0.947% and 19-2-1 respectively, which were best in the entire conference. Congrats to Sarah and the rest of the Women’s Ice Hockey team on a much deserved victory!
