So excited that our MATH 215 Mathematics and Art course is in Spain seeing the mathematics behind art in several cities. In this picture the group is at the Alhambra, a 13th century Moorish palace in Granada Spain which has beautiful geometric mosaics.. This place has an interesting history: It was originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 on the remains of Roman fortifications, and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Emirate of Granada. It then became a royal palace and then a royal court.
