Brown School of Business and Leadership

Congratulations to the BSOBL Dell Scholarship recipient, Zachary Rutsch. Zak is a Business Administration Major with a double track in Sports Management & Finance from Maryland. He has received numerous honors and accolades for his academic achievements throughout his matriculation at Stevenson, including induction into Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Additionally, Zachary is a leadership scholar and star kicker on the football team. The University announced this February that the Middle Atlantic Conference named Rutsch to the All-MAC Second Team this fall. Both Zak and his former roommate JT (School of Science) were honored at the Dell Scholarship event held on March 22, 2023.

The Dell family holds a strong conviction that the future success of American enterprise in the global marketplace depends on uncompromising integrity, teamwork, sound understanding of and disciplined execution of effective business practices, and a strong work ethic. In recognition of Stevenson’s commitment to preparing the next generation of business leaders and scientists, Mr. and Mrs. Dell chose to endow a scholarship to recognize excellent students in both the Brown School of Business and Leadership and the Fine School of the Sciences. They hope to inspire students to develop the personal qualities and skills that will enable them to contribute to and be competitive in the global workforce.

On Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, Stevenson hosted their annual Fall Career & Internship Fair. This event provided an excellent opportunity for students to network with industry professionals during what is considered “the heaviest recruitment season of the year”.

There were over 100 Mustangs in attendance and an astounding number of 36 employers were eager to discuss job and internship opportunities within fields such as Business, Marketing, Finance, and Public Service. Students came prepared with their striking professional attire, polished resumes, and knowledge of the companies in attendance. Certainly, this impressed the employers immensely.

BSOBL collaborated with the Career Connections Center to organize two exciting events that occurred during the career fair. There was a Food & Networking event, where students got to speak with employers in a more casual setting. Additionally, the Enactus Success Studio set up a pop-up shop for students. Mustangs were able to take professional clothing free of cost! With all of this excitement, certainly we are eager about the next Career & Internship Fair!

On September 28th, 2022, the Future Real Estate Leaders (FREAL) held an engaging Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Baltimore Networking Event. Over 150 people were in attendance. Students had the opportunity to network with industry professionals, and gain insight related to real estate. FREAL considers this event to have been a major success! FREAL is a relatively new club on Stevenson’s campus.

The club was founded by President Tyger Zan and Vice President Dylan Gettier last year. They formed this club to expand their knowledge of real estate outside of their coursework at Stevenson. The three major components of the club are Connect, Inspire, and Community. Tyger and Dylan are extremely passionate and enthusiastic about a future career in real estate and are looking for equally ambitious Mustangs to join. Be on the lookout for upcoming FREAL events and email for more information about the club!
