On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Brown School of Business and Leadership (BSOBL) welcomed students, faculty, and staff to its Fall Meet and Greet on the BSOBL Quad. This lively gathering marked the first time the event has been held since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing how valuable these moments of connection can be, the dean’s office partnered with the Student Government Association (SGA) to bring the tradition back. Special thanks go to our BSOBL SGA representatives Mya Williams, a senior business administration major, and Natalie Kent, a sophomore business administration major, who played an integral role in organizing the event.

The timing couldn’t have been better—summer weather made a late-September return, creating the perfect backdrop for an afternoon filled with conversation, networking, and community building. Students had the opportunity to connect directly with faculty and staff while also learning more about the wide range of opportunities the school provides both inside and outside of the classroom.

To make the afternoon even more welcoming, attendees enjoyed fresh pizza, BSOBL-branded giveaways, and a friendly game of cornhole—all of which added a fun and memorable touch to the event.

One of the highlights of the meet and greet was the showcase of BSOBL’s vibrant student organizations. Representatives from the Ethical Hackers Club, ENACTUS, Financial Management Association (FMA), and the Future Real Estate Leaders Club (FREAL) were on hand to meet prospective members, share upcoming projects, and highlight the unique benefits of getting involved. For many students, this was a chance to discover new interests, build leadership skills, and become part of the BSOBL community in a deeper way.

Events like these not only strengthen connections within BSOBL but also highlight the school’s commitment to fostering collaboration, professional growth, and student leadership.

We look forward to building on this momentum and hope to see you at the next BSOBL event!

Sigma Beta Delta is an International Honor Society for Business, Management, and Administration. Its mission is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment among students and to promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement. Its establishment was focused on honoring students who have attained superior records in business programs at universities that are regionally accredited.

Meaning of Sigma Beta Delta

Sigma is the initial letter of the above Greek word which means wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge gained over time, analyzed and used with discernment. Wisdom is not merely information, but allows one to acknowledge information, consider its validity and relevance, and then incorporate into one’s own life what is appropriate.

Beta is the initial letter of the Greek word above which signifies honor. Honor is a personal quality of the highest value. Honorable persons are held in esteem, considered to be trustworthy, and admired by others because they live a life that is worthy of such recognition. Honorable persons have chosen to live a life that is bound by integrity and ethical decision-making. They respect others and are willing to provide leadership to the benefit of humankind.

Delta is the initial letter of the Greek word above which signifies the pursuit of meaningful aspirations. Persons of wisdom and honor must aspire to a course to achieve their objectives, for goals without action are no more fulfilling than action without goals. To aspire toward the fulfillment of one’s goals to serve humankind and develop personally and professionally will lead to a life of meaning and satisfaction.

Students from the Brown School of Business and Leadership were inducted into Sigma Beta Delta on 5/5/25

Congratulations to Professor Jeannine Morber for being selected as the 2024 recipient of the Rose Dawson Excellence in Teaching Award! Outside of Rockland Banquet Hall, a plaque reads “The Stevenson University Excellence in Teaching Award is presented annually to recognize innovative and energetic faculty who exemplify the art of teaching as mentors and scholars…” Anyone who has interacted with Professor Morber knows she fully embodies the spirit of this award.

Professor Morber is known across campus for her infectious energy, dedication, professional level photography, and unmatched support for students. She goes above and beyond in her position as the BSOBL Internship Director to ensure all students can find an internship before they graduate. Not only is she fully committed to helping students secure internships, students just love being in her classes.

Her vibrant and kindhearted personality really shines in the classroom, making students feel supported, motivated, and seen. She credits this to her philosophy of “The energy you bring is the energy you get back” and Professor Morber really brings the best energy.

As such an accomplished and energetic person, it is hard to imagine that Professor Morber was once in the same shoes as many students. Professor Morber describes a time she felt lost, with no direction as a young adult, she wished she had a mentor to guide her through hardships. From the moment she began teaching, Professor Morber made a promise to herself “When I start teaching, I’m going to be the person I wish I had.” This promise has assisted countless students overcoming self-doubt, securing internships, and launching meaningful careers.

When asked about her favorite part of teaching, Professor Morber without hesitation responded “It’s seeing students push past doubt, especially the ones who are afraid of doing an internship or going to a career fair, then they come out of it proud of themselves. That moment never gets old.” It was immediately apparent during the interview how much she cares for her students, there were even times when she was emotional reflecting on student’s successes. She wanted to share with students that it is completely normal not to know what you want to do, and nobody has it all figured out, especially not in college. This comes from a place of empathy with Professor Morber, but she reminds students they must push past doubt and fear.

Professor Morber’s picture is on display in the Lynn Duncan room located on the first floor of the Rockland Center

Professor Morber was shocked and humbled when she received this reward at the faculty luncheon, but what stuck with her the most was knowing that those nominations for the award came directly from students. “That’s what makes it really special,” she shared.

Professor Morber received the Rose Dawson Excellence in Teaching Award because she has brought energy to the University every day, believed in students when they could not, and reminded us that it is okay to not have it all figured out. Thank you, Professor Morber, for being the mentor that younger you wish you had.

Congratulations to Stevenson University Fashion Merchandising major Isabela Magpantay for being this year’s recipient of the Geraldine and Sam Dell Scholarship for Character and Excellence in Business.

This scholarship is awarded to an exceptional senior student in the Howard S. Brown School of Business and Leadership who demonstrates strong ethical grounding and a work ethic resulting in academic and personal success.

Isabela was awarded during the 16th Annual Award Reception at Rockland Banquet Hall on March 5th, 2024. Also, MedChi CEO, Gene Ransom presented “Ten Trends in Healthcare: The Preparation of New Practitioners”.
