Summer Serenades Return Bringing Outdoor Musical Performances to the Greenspring Valley, June 23-July 13

Stevenson, MD — For the 12th consecutive season, Stevenson University presents “Summer Serenades in the Valley,” a festive outdoor concert series featuring a wide array of music by Stevenson’s resident ensemble, the Greenspring Valley Orchestra, and other groups organized by Stevenson’s music faculty.

For the first time, a special family-friendly performance will take place at the Irvine Nature Center featuring the Lexington Brass Quintet, the ensemble—led by Jared Denhard, Instructor of Music, and Bob Suggs, D.M.A., Professor of Music—plays for all Stevenson University commencements.

The Summer Serenades schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 22: Greenspring Valley Orchestra, Summertime Classics, 7:15 p.m, (Rain site: Inscape Theatre).
  • Thursday, June 23: Lexington Brass Quintet, 7:15 p.m., Irvine Nature Center (Rain site: Irvine Nature Center tent)
  • Saturday, July 9: 5th Occasional Greenspring Valley Ukefest, Getting Started on the Ukulele Workshop, 1:30-3 p.m.; Local Ukulele Legends Perform, 6 p.m.; Baltimore Ukulele Symphonette Gala Concert, 7:15 p.m. (Rain site: Cuvilly Exchange Meeting Room)
  • Wednesday, July 13: Greenspring Valley Orchestra, Let the Games Begin: Salute to the Olympics and Other Games, 7:15 p.m. (Rain site: Inscape Theatre)

The June 22, July 9, and July 12 performances will take place at the Cuvilly Exchange patio area, located on Stevenson’s Greenspring Campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153.

The June 23 performance will take place at the Irvine Nature Center, 11201 Garrison Forest Road Owings Mills, MD 21117. Visit explorenature.org for more information about the Center.
