Sunday, March 6, was a memorable day for Stevenson University Athletics.
A little before 4 p.m., senior Caitlin Roy stood at the foul line, her two free throws securing a 73-70 win over Washington & Jefferson for Stevenson women’s basketball’s first ECAC South Championship.

About three hours later, senior Jessie Capanelli’s goal in sudden-death double overtime earned Stevenson women’s ice hockey a 2-1 victory over Endicott in the inaugural Colonial Hockey Conference championship.
The championship wins capped off productive seasons for both teams. After making the NCAA D-III tournament a year ago, women’s basketball overcame a sluggish start to finish 17-10 on the year. Women’s ice hockey enjoyed its best season as a program, posting a final record of 23-3-1 and ending the year on a 12-game winning streak.
