Stevenson University will hold its annual Student Film Festival on Friday, April 4 at the School of Design Sound Stage on the Owings Mills North Campus, 11200 Gundry Lane, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A public reception will begin at 6 p.m. and the film screenings will run 7-10 p.m.

“I am excited for the film festival this year and the platform it gives the students,” said Dina Fiasconaro, Assistant Professor of Film/Video at Stevenson said. “I hope that the film festival brings together the entire Stevenson community as both creators and viewers for an evening of entertainment, in which our students’ creative voices can be heard.”

The event, in its fifth year, features short films by Stevenson students. Their work will be judged by a panel of industry leaders including Angie Young, Filmmaker and Membership Director for the Maryland Film Festival; David Partin, Stevenson Alumnus and Director of Digital Media at Bonnemaison, Inc.; and Gina Caruso, Managing Director of the Creative Alliance.

The festival serves as a prime opportunity for Stevenson’s students to take what they have learned in the classroom and showcase their work a professional stage.

“As a video student at Stevenson, I have gained skills and experience that are invaluable to me as an aspiring filmmaker,” said Stevenson junior Nora Long. “I hope to always be able to continue learning and putting new knowledge to use in my short films.”
