Beginning in January 2014, Stevenson University and The Chatsworth School in Reisterstown began coordinating a mentoring program in which more than 40 Stevenson student-athletes volunteer to spend time with a “student-buddy” at Chatsworth. Once a week, the athletes, donning their Stevenson gear, head over to the school and bond with their respective buddies during lunch, recess, and classroom time.

“This partnership with Stevenson has been more successful than I ever could have imagined,” said Kelly O’Connell, Assistant Principal at Chatsworth. “Our students are more motivated, eager, and excited to come to school to see their Stevenson ‘buddy’. We’ve been incredibly impressed with the professionalism and dedication that the Stevenson student-athletes have shown. Not only have they committed to this program, they’ve asked to increase their volunteer hours. The Stevenson athletes have become part of the Chatsworth family”
