Stevenson Fashion Merchandising Students to Preview Fall Fashion Trends to Public at White Marsh Boscov’s

Fashion Merchandising students from Stevenson University have been invited to Boscov’s White Marsh Mall location to present the season’s fashion trends on Tuesday, September 30 from 4-8 p.m. The event will take place in the store’s second floor auditorium as students from the program’s Visual Merchandising course will use merchandise, props, and fixtures that are currently on-hand in the store. Students will also be available to answer questions about the seasons’ trends for customers.
White Marsh Mall is located at 8200 Perry Hall Boulevard, Baltimore, MD 21236.
The event is part of a class project in which students are asked to identify and research a current trend in fashion, create a theme around the trend, and present a visual merchandising display to communicate the trend. In order to prepare for the project, student groups completed research on the trend, met with Boscov’s Visual Merchandising Manager and PR Manager, and delivered an oral proposal presentation.
“Many of our Fashion Merchandising students are interested in visual merchandising as a future career, and this project gives them hands-on experience,” said Holly Lentz-Schiller, Assistant Professor of Fashion Merchandising. “They are learning about the importance of trends, how to complete floor-sets, design principles, prop display, the use of color, and proper use of mannequins.”
This marks the second time in the past year that Stevenson has partnered with Boscov’s. Last spring, Fashion Merchandising students produced a fashion show for the retailer at its Westminster location.
