Stevenson University is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Wendy Kimber as Dean of the Beverly K. Fine School of the Sciences and Dr. Holly Lentz-Schiller as Dean of the Sandra R. Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions, effective March 1.

Dr. Wendy Kimber, Dean of the Beverly K. Fine School of the Sciences.

Dr. Kimber earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Edinburgh School of Medicine and her B.Sc. (Honors) in Biological Sciences from Wolverhampton Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. She completed postdoctoral fellowships at the National Human Genome Research Institute and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before serving as a research scientist in the Laboratory of Genetics at the National Institute on Aging.

Dr. Kimber joined the Fine School of the Sciences in 2005 as an Adjunct Professor and became a full-time Assistant Professor of Biology in 2008. She was later promoted to Professor and, in 2016, appointed Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences. During her tenure, Dr. Kimber has secured competitive grant funding, contributed to statewide curriculum initiatives, and expanded student enrichment opportunities through partnerships with the Maryland State Department of Education and other external organizations. Her university service includes membership on the Academic Integrity Task Force, General Education Task Force, and Academic Affairs Committee, as well as serving as Co-Chair of Working Group 3 for Stevenson’s 2018 Middle States Self-Study. A respected scholar and collaborative leader, Dr. Kimber is exceptionally well prepared to guide the Fine School of the Sciences in advancing its tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and student outcomes.

Dr. Holly Lentz-Schiller, Dean of the Sandra R. Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions

Dr. Lentz-Schiller brings more than 18 years of university-level teaching and academic leadership experience, including 13 years of dedicated service to Stevenson. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and her M.A. and B.A. from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.

As a Professor and Academic Program Administrator, Dr. Lentz-Schiller provided comprehensive academic and operational leadership for the graduate and undergraduate Healthcare Management programs, the Fashion Merchandising program, and the Professional Studies program. In these roles, she oversaw faculty and budgets, and she supported specialized accreditation through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education by fostering a strong culture of assessment and continuous quality improvement. Dr. Lentz-Schiller also served as Senior Faculty Director for Stevenson’s Specialty Scholars Programs, providing strategic oversight for the Honors, Leadership, and Service Scholars programs, and as Faculty Director for the Service Scholars program. Through these roles, she demonstrated a sustained commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, co-curricular excellence, and student success. Her extensive experience in academic administration and accreditation positions the School of Nursing and Health Professions to maintain and strengthen its specialized accreditations, including those with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Maryland Board of Nursing.

“Since stepping into their roles as Interim Deans last July, both Dr. Kimber and Dr. Lentz-Schiller have led their Schools with dedication, integrity, and vision,” said Meredith C. Durmowicz, Ph.D. “Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. “They have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Stevenson University’s mission and to the success of our students. Their permanent appointments reflect the University’s strong confidence in their ability to advance academic excellence and innovation, strengthen their respective Schools, and foster continued student academic achievement and career preparedness.”
