Stevenson University’s Art/Visual Communication Design (VCD) department will welcome award-winning photographer Gabriela Bulisova as its fall 2015 Artist-in-Residence.

Bulisova will deliver a keynote address Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockland Banquet Room on the Owings Mills Campus, 100 Campus Circle, Owings Mills, MD 21117. The talk will be preceded by a reception at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public.

Bulisova, who earned the prestigious Sondheim Prize in 2013, will show slides from her diverse portfolio and share her experiences as a photojournalist and photo documentarian. Her recent work includes travels to Iran and Chernobyl, interactions with Iraqi refugees in the U.S., and documentations of the effect incarceration has on families. She currently has two exhibitions, “Locked Apart” and “Time Zone” on display in Stevenson’s St. Paul Companies Pavilion through November 12.

“We are very excited to host Gabriela Bulisova,” said George Moore, Chair and Associate Professor of Art/VCD. “Stevenson’s Artist-in-Residence program provides students with an extraordinary opportunity to work in a small-group setting with a practicing artist. Our students will greatly benefit from being able to listen to Gabriela’s experiences and learn about her creative practices firsthand.”
