INTERIOR PROGRESS ON THE BERMAN FAMILY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Final work on the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Family Performing Arts Center is underway. This Fall the work has focused on outfitting interior spaces for the official opening in Spring 2026. Click on the video to see the progress for yourself.

MUSTANGS MAKE HISTORY IN FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Fall 2025 was a historic season for the Stevenson University Mustangs. The Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball teams all advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Championships. And two teams—Field Hockey and Women’s Volleyball—advanced to the first round of the NCAA tournament. Fall 2025 is the first season since Stevenson joined the MAC Commonwealth Conference in July 2012 that four teams went on to the postseason.
DR. ZAMIRA SIMKINS NAMED DEAN OF BROWN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP
Stevenson has named Dr. Zamira Simkins the new Dean of the Howard S. Brown School of Business and Leadership, effective December 15. Dr. Simkins has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and business, and first joined the Brown School of Business and Leadership in 2007.
STUDENTS DISPLAY BUSINESS ACUMEN AT BROWN SCHOOL EXPO
More than 70 students participated in Stevenson’s annual Brown School of Business and Leadership EXPO on December 8. During the event, students shared their exciting research and internship experiences through presentations and poster sessions. This year, the impact and use of AI across many sectors of the economy was a major topic of student research.

The Mill Agency Reimagines the 2026 Baltimore Small Business Advancement Conference
This Fall, The Mill Agency—Stevenson’s student-run design, marketing, and communications agency—worked with the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development (SMBA&D) to re-develop brand identity of the 2026 Baltimore Small Business Advancement Conference.

Mock Trial Hosts First Annual Mustang Mayhem Invitational
Stevenson’s Mock Trial program hosted its first Mustang Mayhem Invitational tournament on November 8-9. Two of Stevenson’s Mock Trial teams competed against 18 teams from four states and the District of Columbia, including Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, Howard University, and Seton Hall University.

Student Share Expertise and Experiences at Fifth Annual Scholars Symposium
On December 11, more than 50 Leadership Scholars, Service Scholars, and Honors students presented their research and projects from the past semester with the Stevenson community at the Fall 2025 Scholars Symposium. The symposium included presentations, breakout sessions, gallery exhibits, posters, and round-table discussions.
Three Medical Laboratory Science Students Receive Johns Hopkins Hospital Tuition Awards
Medical Laboratory Science seniors Camella Evonlah, Jordan Vaughan, and Lauren Wagner were awarded The Johns Hopkins Hospital Tuition Subsidy for Medical Laboratory Scientists in November. Each student received $10,000 for a two-year work commitment—a guarantee of employment after graduation.
50 Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, and Graphic Design Students Visit NYC
Students visited New York City in September to learn more about the fashion industry. Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising students visited Mood Fabrics, Pacific Trimming and the showroom of fashion designer, Tanya Taylor. Graphic Design students visited the MoMA and enjoyed a private tour of the exhibition “Data Consciousness: Reframing Blackness in Contemporary Print” by the artist, Silas Munro, at the Print Center New York.
Student Interns with People’s Bank of Zanzibar in Tanzania
Ahlam Shehe, junior Applied Mathematics major, completed a summer internship with the People’s Bank of Zanzibar in Tanzania. Ahlam worked in the bank’s Corporate Finance and Business Development Department. While there, Ahlam developed her financial analysis skills, supported business development projects, and worked with clients—all of which provided valuable professional experiences.

Faculty Achievements
Bridget Webb, Assistant Professor, Graduate Nursing, published her work “Overcoming Exhaustion: Building a Conceptual Foundation for Nursing Research,” in the International Journal of Nursing Sciences.
Jen White-Johnson, Professor of Graphic Design, exhibited her work at Loyola’s Julio Fine Arts Gallery as part of the exhibition, KnoxRoxs: Autistic Joy, A Photozine Retrospective Exhibition.
Kristy Fuller, Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, published her paper, “Efficacy of a video refresher surgical technical assistance tool on surgeon performance of fasciotomies and proximal vascular control,” in the journal Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open.
Mark Lortz, Professor and Director of Music, served as music arranger for the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps and contributed to the group’s second consecutive Drum Corps International All-Age World Championship win in August. The group earned both Best Music and Best Brass honors.
Mark Norris, Professor of Biology, was invited to participate in a week-long Tree Climbing Academy featuring training by professional arborists.
Michael Zellers, Assistant Director of Bands, helped lead the Boston Crusaders to their first-ever Drum Corps International World Class Championship title in August.
Pamula Mills, Adjunct Professor of Psychology, was awarded the Order of Distinction (Companion) by the Government of the Bahamas, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors, in recognition of her decades of humanitarian service.
Tamana Anand, Assistant Professor of Marketing, presented her paper “Social Media User Online Shopping Journey: The Impact of Information Shared and Customer Interaction through Social Media on Purchase Behavior,” co-authored with Dr. Moghavvemi Sedigheh of the University of Malaya.

With just one extra year of online study, faster than traditional onsite master’s programs, students can earn a Stevenson master’s degree and prepare themselves for specialized careers in fields such as business, technology, healthcare, education, communication, forensics.
