We have had a terrific semester in Theatre and Media Performance at Stevenson University. Our fall production of Sense and Sensibility brought laughter and joy to our SU audiences. We conducted several workshops with theatre professionals including Beth Hylton and Joseph Ritsch from Everyman Theatre in Baltimore. Additionally, TMP faculty member Katie O. Solomon conducted a special workshop about graduate school. The SU English Department collaborated with TMP on a project entitled, Shakesqueer which explored the nature of sexuality within Shakespeare’s work. This project was a brilliant example of the kind of arts integration happening at Stevenson–a combination of theatre, art, music, dance and creative writing collaged into an evening of enlightening work. TMP’s second production was an original devised theatre piece about environmental sustainability titled, Consumption. Completely created by students, the project included statistical data, creative writing, interviews, and music. Finally, our seniors produced an actors showcase featuring professional monologues by contemporary and classical playwrights.

It is this kind of energy, collaboration, and dynamic spirit which makes Theatre and Media Performance a special place to be!!
