Dr. Jesse Schneiderman, Assistant Professor

The School of Education welcomes Dr. Jesse Schneiderman to our faculty. In additional to his role as Assistant Professor, Dr. Schneiderman serves as Faculty Director of the Zirkin Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. After teaching in the South Bronx for two years, Dr. Schneiderman moved to Baltimore and spent five years teaching social studies at Frederick Douglass High School in West Baltimore. During that time, he became interested in studying students’ sense of belonging and service learning and enrolled in the Johns Hopkins Doctor of Education program. After teaching and serving as the Dean of Student Activities at Douglass, Dr. Schneiderman spent almost three years running the Adult Learning Center, helping to provide free GED and English language classes to adult Baltimoreans. Dr. Schneiderman lives in the Upper Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore with his wife Megan, his toddler son Cameron, and their pitbull Waffles. Welcome Dr. Schneiderman!
