Invasive species can be detrimental to the longevity and existence of natural species. As part of a service learning project, the ENV 330 Conservation Biology class taught by Dr. Kim Tucker created a professionally published booklet with information about the top ten invasive species along Irvine Nature Center trails. Included in the booklet is information about each plant, how to identify and remove the plant, and high quality color photos for confirmation.

Each of the eight students spent a minimum of 15 hours doing trail maintenance and identifying potential invasive species. On Friday November 20th, the students presented their book to staff and members of Irvine Nature Center. The booklet will now be made available to visitors as well as the community, both in hard copy at Irvine Nature Center and on its website.
