Highlights

Michael Drobac is a Lecturer and Coordinator for the Accounting program at Stevenson University’s Brown School of Business and Leadership. He instructs courses in Financial Modeling & Analysis, Intermediate Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Accounting. Previously, Mr. Drobac taught full-time at Central Maine Community College (Business Finance, Entrepreneurship, Intermediate Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Financial Accounting), and earlier served as an adjunct professor, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, for over 10 years during his corporate career, including courses related to Risk Management & Insurance,  International Business, and Contemporary Accounting Issues. 

Mr. Drobac’s corporate career included 10 years with American International Group (AIG) where he advised on regulatory matters related to FinTech (e.g., blockchain, artificial intelligence, regulatory sandboxes, etc.). Upon joining AIG in 2014, he served as the single point of contact, and principal advisor, on interactions with the company’s consolidated supervisor, primarily the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. 

Prior to joining AIG, from 2009-2014 Mr. Drobac led a compliance group during the financial crisis, as agent for the US Treasury Department, to ensure the mortgage industry assisted struggling borrowers as defined by the Administration’s homeowner preservation program. He also spent 14 years with Merrill Lynch in a variety of risk and control roles, including as the company’s Chief Privacy Officer from 2005-2008 and Chief Auditor – International Private Client from 1997-2000, while based in London, England. Mr. Drobac began his career with KPMG spending 8 years in the financial services audit and consulting practices. 

Mr. Drobac obtained his MBA (Finance) from New York University’s Stern School of Business and his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He also obtained a FinTech certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Securities Industry certificate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant, a Fellow of Information Privacy, a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, and passed several securities regulatory examinations.
