February 21, 2014 7 AM

Stevenson University presents “Landscape and Memory,” an exhibition of the artistic works of Baltimore-area landscape painter, Michael Bare, Monday, February 10 through Saturday, March 29, in the Art Gallery on Stevenson University’s Greenspring Campus. The Gallery is located at 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153 and is open to the public Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursdays, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m.

A public reception for “Landscape and Memory” will be held in the Gallery on Thursday, March 6 6-8 p.m. An art talk will be given on Wednesday, March 19 at noon, also in the Gallery. Both events are free and open to the public.

Bare’s interest in layering and building color to achieve a surface complexity produces a profound sense of atmosphere in his paintings. “I like to return to the same places to paint,” Bare said. “Each time I return, my perspectives change and I search for the connections from previous paintings and visits.”
