Students Work Together and Create New Games at Stevenson’s Global Game Jam

Get ready for a weekend of fun and game design at Stevenson University’s Global Game Jam 2024. The Global Game Jam is the world’s largest event devoted to making games entirely from scratch. Each year, events are held at over 600 locations across 90 countries and attract more than 30,000 participants.

Stevenson’s 2024 jam will be held Friday, February 3 – Sunday, February 5. During that time, groups of students will work together to create a new videogame, boardgame, card game, or other game around a shared theme. All students are welcome, and no experience in game creation is needed. Mentors will be present to help with game design, and food, software, and other supplies will be provided.

“Global Game Jam is an excellent opportunity to get creative, learn some new things, meet some new people or do something really fun with friends,” said Meagan Nyland, Director of Experiential Learning, Senior Lecturer of English, and organizer of the Stevenson game jam. “You don’t need any previous experience and can make any kind of game you want. We fully fund the supplies for the games made during the weekend.”
