I am sure many of us are starting this week absolutely stunned by the horrific violence committed in Orlando, Florida, over this past weekend. Like you, I cannot fathom the level of hatred that would motivate someone to target innocent people and particularly one community.

At this time, I think we should remember to be supportive of our friends, family members, and colleagues, especially those in the LGBT community who might feel vulnerable in light of this violence. Stevenson University is a community that values diversity, inclusion, and respect for others. This commitment will always guide us in our interactions with others.

Today, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims of this tragic shooting as we hold on to the values that make us a stronger university, community, and nation.
