Venice, Florence, Sorrento, and Rome are among the cities featured in “Dieci Cittá” (Ten Cities) a Stevenson University photography exhibition showcasing student work from a spring 2015 study abroad trip through Italy. Hosted by the University’s School of Design, the trip took 32 students on a whirlwind tour through Italy in which the group visited 10 cities over a 10-day span.

Stevenson will host a public reception for the exhibition Thursday, February 25, 6-8 p.m., at the St. Paul Companies Pavilion on the Greenspring Campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153. The event is free and the community is encouraged to attend. The gallery, which includes more than 30 images, will be on display through May 27.

In addition to discovering the unique characteristics of each locale, many of the students learned more about themselves as photographers throughout the journey. Senior Alaina Hall noted that the landscapes and architecture in Florence were among her favorite shots from the trip.

“If I ever get the chance to go back to Italy, I definitely want to explore that city more,” said Hall, a Visual Communication Design major. “I think this experience will help me in my career because I’m not afraid to broaden my horizons. I’m more eager now than I was before to try new things. I also feel that I’ve become more confident in my work as a photographer.”

Students also spent time in Verona, Treviso, Passignano, Assisi, Capri, and Pompeii.
