Stevenson University Online earned recognition by the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation for its emphasis on personal guidance for mature female students in higher education during the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation is an independent foundation that supports adult learners pursuing degrees in higher education. Scholarships and fellowships are granted specifically to women who are 25 years of age or older and need financial assistance to continue their education. According to research conducted by the Newcombe Foundation, “adult students comprise a large portion of the enrollment at most colleges and universities” with a large population of non-traditional students being women.

In a spotlight of Stevenson, the Newcombe Foundation highlighted the unique approach taken by the School of Graduate and Professional Studies of enrolling and supporting the non-traditional population. Despite the challenges mature women students may face, Stevenson’s Enrollment Team works directly with students to help them prepare for their studies and an ever-changing work force.

Stevenson University looks forward to continuing its work with the Newcombe Foundation by guiding and supporting adult female learners in achieving their education goals.
